Liu Hui and Molly are discussing the issue of educational quality at a workshop.Liu Hu

Liu Hui and Molly are discussing the issue of educational quality at a workshop.

Liu Hui: Hi, Molly. Today's topic is educational quality. First, what does educational quality mean to you?

Molly: As far as I'm concerned, quality education means good learning standards in educational institutions. So, educational quality ensures a desirable outcome for learners.

Liu Hui: Sounds like after some serious thinking. However, many definitions of quality in education exist, testifying to the complexity and multifaceted nature of the concept.

Molly: Definitely, establishing a contextualized understanding of quality means including relevant stakeholders. Key stakeholders often hold different views and meanings of educational quality.

Liu Hui: There are many prestigious universities in the US. They all provide high-quality education. But some universities aren't known for their quality. It's hard to imagine the gap.

Molly: Yes, in the US the quality in higher education is quite mixed. Universities like Harvard, Yale, MIT, etc., you know, are well-known all over the world. However, there are some institutions providing poor education, so called “diploma mills”.

Liu Hui: In China, we have similar issues in educational quality. Some universities pay more attention to profits instead of quality.

Molly: How to improve educational quality is an international issue. But, solutions are grounded in values, cultures and traditions and may be specific to a given nation as well.

2. Liu Hui disagrees with Molly on the meaning of education quality.{T; F}

根据以下材料回答第 46~50 题:

Passage FourNews has just been received of an air crash in the north of England. The plane , which was on a charter flight from London to Carlisle, was carrying a party of businessmen on their way to a trade fair. So far few details have been reported, but it is feared that at least twenty people lost their lives, among them the pilot, who was killed instantly, The local ambulances and firemen were on the scene within minutes of the crash , but additional help had to be rushed from other areas.

Mr. Lesilie Collins, one of the survivors, told our reporter, “We passengers noticed the engines were making a funny noise. 第5题

The world is known to us through many senses, not just hearing, smell, vision, and at clos
e range, touch and taste.

Our skins let us know whether the air is moist or dry, whether surfaces are wet without being sticky or slippery. From the uniformity of slight pressure, we can be aware how deeply a finger is thrust into water at body temperature, even if the Anger is enclosed in a rubber glove that keeps the skin completely dry. Many other animals, with highly sensitive skins, appear to be able to learn still more about their environment. Often they do so without employing any of the five senses.

By observing the capabilities of other members of the animal kingdom, we come to realize that a human being has far more possibilities than are utilized. We neglect ever so many of our senses in concentrating on the five major ones. At the same time, a comparison between animals and man draws attention to the limitation of each sense. The part of the spectrum (光谱) seen by colour-conscious man as red is non-existent for honey-bees. But a bee can see far more in flowers than we, because the ultra-violet (紫外线) to which our eyes are blind is a stimulating (刺激的) part of the insect's spectrum, and, for honey-bees at least, constitutes a separate colour.

From the passage we realize that ______.

A.man possesses far more senses than the five major ones

B.man possesses a few more senses than animals

C.man possesses as many senses as animals

D.man has fully utilized his senses

discovered until 1905. In that year, a thirteen-year-old boy named Ben Sands crawled through a small opening

three hundred feet underground. He found himself

in a large cave half filled with water.

Today tourists visit the Lost Sea and ride far out onto it in glass-bottomed boats powered by electric motors.

To a philosopher, wisdom is not the same as knowledge.Facts may be known in enormous numbe

To a philosopher, wisdom is not the same as knowledge. Facts may be known in enormous numbers without the knower of them loving wisdom. Indeed, the person who possesses encyclopedic (学识渊博的) information may actually have a genuine contempt (轻视) for those who love and seek wisdom. The philosopher is not content with a mere knowledge of facts. He desires to combine and evaluate facts, and to examine beneath the obvious to the deeper orderliness behind the immediately given facts. Insight into the hidden depths of reality, perspective (洞察) on human life and nature in their entirety, in the words of Plato, to be a spectator of time and existence--these are the philosopher's objectives. Too great an interest in the small details of science, may, and often does, obscure these basic objectives.

Philosophers assume that the love of wisdom is a natural gift of the human being. Potentially every man is a philosopher because in the depths of his being there is an intense longing to penetrate to the meaning of the mysteries of existence. The inner deep longing expresses itself in various ways prior to any actual study of philosophy as a technical branch of human culture. Consequently every human being in so far as he has ever been or is a lover of wisdom has, to that extent, a philosophy of life.

The title below that best expresses the idea of this passage is ______.

A.The Potential Philosopher

B.The Philosophy of Plato

C.The Philosopher Versus the Scientist

D.The Philosopher Defined

Even the newest gardener realizes that plants die without water; what is not so well known
is that plants die equally decisively, though not so quickly, if they are overwatered. Beginners usually decide to play it safe and keep their potted plants thoroughly wet. In consequence, death by drowning is one of the commonest disasters to befall the plants of a new horticulturist. Plants wither away if they don't get enough water, and this draws attention to their problem. A plant that has been slightly underwatered so that it droops strikes terror into the heart of its new owner. But it will, in fact, recover completely as long as rescue comes in time and the process is not repeated too often. Overwatered plants, unfortunately, do not give any such obvious signal; slowly they cease to thrive and the first visible indication of serious trouble is a yellowing of the lower leaves. Unless the overwatered pot soil is given a considerable period without water, during which time the plant will continue to look wretched, it will suddenly collapse in exactly the same way as the underwatered plant but with no chance of being revived(复活)because the roots have rotted away.

From the text we can infer a horticulturist is person engaged in ______.

A.growing plants

B.raising birds

C.cutting plants

D.studying the death cause of plants
